| Sometimes it feels like you're simply looking right through me | a veces se siente como si solo mirases através de mi (es transparente?)
| Do you think that's just the way it is? I'll never know | crees que las cosas son así y ya? nunca lo sabré
| Baby, I wish that we could just meet at a party | bebé, ojalá pudiésemos conocernos en una fiesta y ya
| I think we could have great chemistry if you notice me | creo que tendríamos buena química, si me ves
| I can imagine you looking deep into my eyes | puedo imaginarte mirando e a los ojos
| I know that you're on the other side and now I'm dreaming | sé que estás en el otro lado y que ahora estoy soñando //porque piensa en cosas que no van a pasar
| Tell me you know me and that you miss me already | dime que me conoces y que me echas de menos
| Baby, are you with me, is it real? I don't know | bebé, estás conmigo? es real? no lo sé
| [Chorus] | |||||
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom | toda la escena es en su cuarto //bedroom pop
| ||||||
| So I see you looking right at me | te veo mirándome
| Do I look like someone that you know? I'll never know | me parezc a alguien que conoces? nunca lo sabré
| Feels like I know you but all I have is your picture | parece que te conozco pero lo unico que tengo es tu foto
| But I think that you look pretty good; you know you do | aunque pienso que sales molt guapito, sabes que lo estás
| Feels like I miss you, but is it really the real you?
| You say you're as real as it gets; what do you mean?
| Tell me a secret, or something that only you know | dime un secreto o algo que solo tu sepas
| I just need to know a little more about you | necesito saber un poco más de ti
| pienso que igual escribio esto primero y luego escribio el otro, y les dio la vuelta para que asi vaays descubriendo poco a poco la escena frases geniales: "feels like i know you but all i have is your picture" y cuando se da cuenta de que esta enamorada de algo que no existe "feels like i miss u, but is it the real u? "you say ur as real as it gets" es como que la ilusion li parla? y el "tell me a secret" parece como la pregunta de seguridad de cuando se te olvida la contraseña

| [Chorus] | |||||
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom
| Writing messages you won't read
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom
| On the internet, waiting to say, "Hi"
| ||||||
| [Bridge] | |||||
| Wishing, watching, waiting, for you
| Wishing, watching, waiting; "Hi"
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom
| ||||||
| [Chorus] | |||||
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom
| Writing messages you won't read
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom
| On the internet, wasting time | In a time, where everything you do can be constantly broadcast across multiple outlets, some people feel this still isn’t enough. They will turn on post notifications wherever they can, and feel a need to constantly know what they’re doing. However, when the other person is absent online, this creates a longing for them to return.
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom
| Writing messages you won't read
| I don't want to be alone in my bedroom
| On the internet, waiting to say

| [Outro (spoken)] | |||||
| "Hi! Oh my god, it's so good to see you!"
| This implies Hannah transcended the internet with the subject character of the song.
| The track’s instrumental and Hannah’s singing both have a positive ring to them while the actual message, through the lyrics and chorus, was slightly mournful, or wishful. This outro completes the song by bringing the positivity full circle, completely fitting in with Hannah’s unique bubblegum pop style.

The song is the story of an online relationship, not with one specific person, but with all the people you interact with, and how it can often feel really isolating in online spaces despite being constantly surrounded by others. It’s about interacting with people who often only show small segments of their life, and the dilemmas around authenticity that this presents. It’s been insightful seeing first-hand the conclusions people draw on what is considered ‘real’ with reference to people, and particularly girls, who live a lot of their lives in online spaces. As someone who has regularly had their own authenticity challenged since I started releasing music, this aspect feels very personal to me. | The intense, hyper real aesthetic that underpins my visual work is something that has developed in a really organic way. It all started when I was a kid. I used to draw all day long, sometimes for as long as 12 hours a day. Two of these drawings are actually in the video. As I got older I used to practice drawing things that looked as close to real life as possible. This is how I became interested in fashion imagery. I would rip the campaigns out of magazines and redraw them so perfectly that they were almost impossible to separate from the originals. After working out that I could push the level of fantasy to the next level by taking photographs, making images got 1000% more exciting. |
